        aMentor Accessibility Validator

aMentor Accessibility Validator (AAV) is an experimental Web service currently under development. It is a model system that demonstrates how Web pages may be checked for accessibility  problems. Evaluations produced by this software are not yet considered valid - this is still an experimental service. The production Web service of aMentor Accessibility Validator will be available here in the near future, and will be seamlessly integrated with the aMentor content editor, allowing content authors to check the accessibility of their content as it is created. AAV follows Section 508 of the Workforce Rehabilitation Act.

To Use aMentor
Accessibility Validator

Follow the Demo link (when available)
Accessibility Validator. On the Demo screen enter the URL of the web page you want to check into the form field at the top of the page.

The Accessibility Validator evaluates Web pages for accessibility problems and displays a warning message whenever a file fails to meet an established accessibility guideline. Current guidelines sets include WCAG 2.0, Section 508, or All accessibility checks (Additional guideline sets will be added in the future). In addition to compiling a list of problems, the
Accessibility Validator also sorts them into two categories: known and potential problems. The number of known and potential problems, based on the guideline set selected, is displayed in a summary table. Listings in the summary table link to detailed descriptions.

Know problems are things that the
Accessibility Validator can detect with certainty. An example of this problem occurs when an image is missing alternate text (ALT text). When a known problem is encountered, the Accessibility Validator displays the item that is causing the problem and suggests a way of fixing the problem. You must modify your page to resolve known problems. When all the Know Problems are corrected, a page receives a Conditional Pass.
